Botanic & Sustainability

For an industry that survives directly from the plant world, as is Centroflora Group’s case, a botanical extracts industry, being in Brazil is as much a privilege as it is a concern. We are granted a world of fresh business prospects from the rich biodiversity to be discovered, while facing imperious challenges in obtaining rational use of the resources with the little knowledge at hand.

The transformation of plants into extracts is hindered by the difficulty to obtain raw materials in the needed quantity and quality for processing, which in many cases subjects native species to predatory extractivism, causing their drastic reduction and even extinction of species of phytotherapic value.

It is therefore vital that the plant extracts industry ensures its survival in the market by restricting resource depletion processes that lead to the decline in quality and quantity of the raw materials it processes and relies on to exist. It is important to invest in knowledge in order to regulate extraction products and expand the supply, as well as promote socio-environmental sustainability.

It was with this in mind that the Centroflora Group created the Botanic & Sustainability department to perform general research and development in terms of obtaining plant raw materials unavailable in the market.
